MVA Tag Return

Important Information:

By law, the MVA requires you to return your tags first and then cancel your insurance. It does not matter if it is a personal vehicle or a commercial vehicle. You need to follow this procedure.

If you do not follow these steps, you could receive a penalty of $150 for the first month. After the first month, you will receive a penalty of $7 per day until you return your tags.

You could accumulate more than $2,000.00 in penalties every year!

Lastly, don’t forget to ask for a copy of your receipt once you return your tags.

Note: It is your responsibility to know the laws in Maryland. Please keep up to date by checking the MVA’s official web site.
